Veterans Wanted to become US Forest Service Firefighters

- 10/23/2019

My name is Samuel Bowen and I am the Assistant Foreman for the Umatilla Veteran Crew. Our crew is an all-military veteran wildland fire crew for the US Forest Service. Our crew hires up to 10 new rookie firefighters every year and we are now recruiting for the 2020 fire season. This is an outstanding opportunity for any veteran interested in a career as a wildland firefighter or in the land management career field. Our rookies start out as paid interns through the Mt. Adams Institute. This internship is 12 weeks. During that time the interns receive firefighter training and aid in hazardous fuels reduction work. After the 12 week internship, individuals who successfully complete the program are hired as entry level firefighters with the US Forest Service. I have attached information on the internship and where to apply. If you have any veterans interested in a career in wildland firefighting they are free to contact me via email or phone. If possible please share this with your veterans. Thank you.
